Federal Level
- No federal license required for astrology services
- First Amendment protects astrological speech as expressive content
State-Level Requirements
Some states and municipalities have historically regulated fortune-telling:
- New York: Astrology is protected as expressive speech under the First Amendment (People v. Lazzara, 1989). No license required.
- New Jersey: Astrology services are exempt from fortune-telling restrictions when presented as entertainment.
- Pennsylvania: Some municipalities require business licenses for fortune-telling, but astrology is generally exempt.
- Georgia (our home state): No license required for astrology services.
Canada
- No federal or provincial license required for astrology services
- Protected under freedom of expression (Charter of Rights, s. 2(b))
United Kingdom
- No license required for astrology services
